The Tri-band reader for the PPT8800 (Pocket PC 2003 versions with standard capacity battery only) attaches to the terminal using a standard pistol grip accessory. The reader provides the Motorola™ PPT8800 with tri-band RFID functionality. The pistol grip reader is powered from the Motorola™ terminal and houses both the RFID reader and the forward facing antennas. The Motorola™ PPT8800 retains the original laser bar code functionality as well as the original communications platform housed within the terminal. The data output from the RFID reader may be simply incorporated into a Pocket PC application using the Software Development Kit (SDK). The pistol grip RFID reader provides the ability to read and write to a wide variety of transponders at all three of the common frequency bands used in RFID (125kHz, 134 kHz and 13.56 MHz). Operation at all three RFID frequency bands provides the user with the opportunity to invest in RFID equipment that is compatible with all main frequency bands
